on wheels: parked next door

Just as the Vacationist Cabin is built on a retired hay-bale trailer, we also repurposed another retired farm workhorse for the Hot-Tub, giving it a new lease of life.

This was for fun, to recycle and upcycle wherever possible, to make something different and unusual, and to allow us flexibility on where to put it.

As you can see it, it looks wonderful just a few steps away from the cabin. Separate but together, their tractor-red trailer chassis mark them as coming from the same stable.

A Hot Tub just for you by the cabin - FAQs

Is the hot tub private?

Yes — completely. The wood-fired hot tub sits right beside The Vacationist Cabin in your own private field. You can soak under the trees, watch the sunset or stargaze late into the night with no one else around.

How is the hot tub heated?

It’s wood-fired for a truly natural experience. We provide all the logs you’ll need — simply light the fire and let the water warm while you enjoy a drink or a walk in the field. Most guests find it deeply satisfying, part of the joy of off-grid glamping in East Sussex.

Do I need to bring anything for the hot tub?

No — everything’s ready for you. We supply the wood, bucket, and paddle for stirring the water as well as a floating thermometer. You will want to bring swimsuits and maybe a bottle of something to enjoy while you soak! Our plastic cups and beakers only please!

Can we use the hot tub in any season?

Absolutely. The Hot Tub Trailer is perfect year-round — it’s wonderful on warm summer nights, but even more magical in winter when the air is crisp and steam rises around you. A true glamping-with-hot-tub Sussex experience.

Is the hot tub part of the cabin booking?

Yes — it’s included when you stay at The Vacationist Cabin. It’s just a few steps from your door, so you can slip from your cosy cabin straight to a private soak under the stars.

How long does it take to heat?

From freshly run, to steaming hot, dependent on ambient temperature and the season, the average is about 90 minutes or therabouts. Enjoy the process of keeping the fire roraring, and stirring the tub as you marvel at the thermosiphon effect naturally warming your tub water, right next to a lovely fire. Magical,

Spoilt for choice, so much to enjoy outside the cabin

Yes there is glamour and luxury with the Vacationist Cabin, but we shouldn’t forget glamping’s natural roots – Camping!

There’s lots of beautiful interior design and comfort to enjoy inside, but we want the beautiful space you have all to yourself outside to be a star too. So as well as the Hot Tub Trailer, also make sure you take time for:

The Hammock and firepit in the field

You’ll see it right there when you arrive, and through the feature triangle-window from the main bedroom. While away hours in the hammock, and enjoy a firepit under the stars (there’s a cooking grill on it too) sat on our handmade bench. But looking back to the trees, you might also be tempted to follow the path and enter….

The Secret Woodland

A magical clearing of sun-dappled woodland with a deck, seating, and firepit with tripod and cooking rack, ideal for BBQs.  Solar lights create a special glow at night, lighting up the tree canopy and the trunk of the big sheltering oak.

Listen to the wind in the trees, the tinkling stream next to you, and hear the local owls wake-up as dusk sets in. Will The Secret Woodland area turn out to be your favourite spot?

Breathing new life into old, again!

The fantastic hot tub trailer was, not long ago, destined to rot away in a corner of a nearby field. Abandoned and piled with bits of…well, “random crap”, it was all a sorry site. Rust was its new master and it was sinking into the Sussex soil with the weight of its burden.

Then along we came. With dreams of steamy soaks and natural wood-fired hot tub sessions for our happy guests, we saw only potential. And a hot-tub on wheels, crafted by hand from reclaimed materials?? Absolutely. It’s part of what makes our Sussex glamping stay so memorable — handmade, reclaimed, and powered by fire.

Out with the tools

The odd angle-grinder, rust treatment,  paint-brush, a whole load of wood and some special bits to build the hot-tub from specialist suppliers, all mixed together with a whole mega-tub of elbow-grease and hey presto – The Hot Tub Trailer! Towed into place and fired up in no time, it’s ready to soothe aching muscles and nourish the souls of our lucky guests.

From derelict to fantastic, we’ve recovered what was essentially some old junk and created something to make some great memories for lots of people.

And relax…..
