Suggested Itineraries

Tickle the tastebuds

Smaller-wine
Fine wine, fine food, fine company

Order a breakfast or welcome hamper to be delivered from a local farm shop, or a bespoke cake or afternoon tea from our partner Ace of Bakes, to get you started.

When you have settled into the slow flow of cabin life, grab the manual and plan your first day touring some of the delightful Sussex vineyards and breweries that are local to the cabin.

Award-winning wines of the region

Bluebell Wines; Hidden Springs; Ridgeview and Rathfinney are open year-round and host a variety of events – from wine and cheese tasting to tours of the vineyard. There are plenty of other smaller vineyards too – check out our article on our favourite local vineyards, or click on this interactive map to see what is nearby.

Pubs for foodies

For dinner, we can point you in the direction of some of our favourite eateries. Check out our Local Area page for an early heads up. We love the Blackboys Inn for a traditional setting with delicious fare and friendly staff.

Gin-tasting across the field

If you’ve chosen to stay three nights then, after a lazy lie in, you are in the perfect spot for our bespoke craft gin tasting experience.  DedBest distillery is based at the same location as us and so you only need to stroll across the field and you can be sampling some of Damien’s incredible gin cocktails made from their beautiful hibiscus and lemongrass infused Gin.

Enjoy the slow pace

Get outdoors

Research shows that people who are more connected with nature are usually happier in life. Their mental health improves, they have improved concentration and sleep better.

So what better way to embrace nature than going off-grid for a three-night break?

Slow things down

Whilst it may take us a while to slow down, when we do we can appreciate how much we needed it. This is your chance to step away from your screen and  put things back into perspective.

Go slow.

Enjoy lying  in bed listening to the birds; watch the sun go down or even come up (if you can bear to drag yourself from your cosy sleep!) on the deck; swing in the hammock and stare up at the trees or simply curl up on the sofa and read a book.

Hike the stunning local scenery

One thing nature-lovers must fit in is a good old stomp through the countryside. We’ll leave you lots of details of hikes you can take so that all you need to do is breathe in deep and fill your lungs, enjoy the details of the trees, the leaves, the smells and the sounds.

Enjoy liquid refreshments!

We’ll even give you pointers as to which pub you can finish at – after all, every hiker needs to replenish their fluids!

Indulge in wellness

Relaxing in the Vacationist cabin
Nourish the soul

Well-being is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as “the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.” Of course that is what we aim for with each of our guest stays, but for those looking to indulge in specific wellbeing activities, here are some suggestions…

Feed the body as well as the soul

Might we suggest a cream tea from our own Ace of Bakes to start with? After all, it’s important you feed the tummy as well as the soul and her cakes are truly scrumptious.

Treat yourself to a treatment

If feeling good for you comes hand in hand with pampering, then you will be pleased to hear that we are based close to the East Sussex National Hotel , whose spa has seven treatment rooms.  There’s also the Olive Sanctuary in Uckfield that is rated highly for reflexology treatments, and nearby Wowo Wild Spa.

Yoga fans can bring their mats. There is space on the deck to roll out and stretch as you listen to the birds.

Enjoy the people around you

And what can be more wholesome than a fireside chat? Spending quality time with those you love around the campfire is a memory that you will take home and cherish forever
